Cycle of Chaos

If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired…do something about it.

If you don’t like how people treat you…stop allowing it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you don’t like how people make you feel-figure out a way to stop being around them. ✋

We get all in our thoughts about hurting others when they don’t think twice about stomping on our own toes—or shoving a metaphorical knife in our heart. 💔

🚨If you don’t like something, then stop‼️

You can be gracious and kind while placing boundaries. 💜

You are your best advocate!

Advocate for yo’self!

Need help? I have *several* options for working with me. All very reasonable.

Small Changes make Big Impacts

Daily writing prompt
What’s one small improvement you can make in your life?

Walking. Walking a few minutes after each meal helps to create healthy habits, lowers blood sugar and makes you more mindful of the world around you.

I started feeling really yucky and my face would get real flushed and feel like I had the worst sunburn ever. I couldn’t figure out what was causing it until a few weeks in, my hubs had the bright idea for me to check my blood glucose. It was sky high. Probably should have gone to the hospital, according to my friend who’s a nurse.

One great way to bring blood sugar down naturally is to get up off your rear end and get some steps in. I started walking after meals…anywhere from 5-30 minutes, just depending on what is happening during the day. Y’all, in a 20 minute walk, my blood glucose would drop nearly 100 mg/dL! It would go from scary high to just regular high LOL!

Also, I don’t “waste” my walk time. Either my kids come along and we get some distraction-free discussion time in, or I’m alone and I pray. I do my best praying when I’m walking; I think it all boils down to being free from distractions!!

Intentionality is important. Walking has been a small thing that’s made a big impact on my entire being: mind, body, and Spirit!

Self-Love: A Biblical Perspective

Growing up in the south, we ALWAYS heard “love your neighbor as yourself”.

In my life, it was often put in the light of “go above and beyond for everyone and put yourself last.” That’s the exact opposite of what Jesus is saying in that verse. I was shown over and over by other’s actions that loving myself and wanting to do something for myself or something that brings me joy=selfish.

You can’t take care of others if your cup is empty. You can not do the best for others if you do not do the best for yourself. You aren’t meant to work yourself to death, day in and day out to please all the people.
God did not create us to be used and abused by ill-intended people.
God created us for relationship with Him. He loves us. He cherishes us.

Loving your neighbor as yourself means loving yourself is NOT a sin. Taking care of yourself? Also, not a sin. You have permission to love yo’self! Jesus wants us to do the best to take care of us and our temple, and THEN we can love others the same way.

Just like on the airplanes we are taught to put our oxygen mask on FIRST, and then help others. That applies to ourselves in our day to day mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health as well.

I’d love to hear in the comments below how YOU fill up your cup and show yourself some love!

Christian Creator and Online Bullying

This popped up in my brain so I thought I’d share an older FB post….

Picture it: 10PM on Valentine’s Day. Kids finally in bed and hubs and I are watching a show on Netflix. 📺

👩‍❤️‍👨 Minding my own bidness and watching the good guys beat up the bad guys…when I get an unsolicited message. 🤯

Not only did this person wrongfully attack my character, they kinda sorta threatened me.

And before I could even respond, they blocked me. 😅

It was bizarre and I was confused. 😵‍💫

I thought I was being overly emotional, but then hubs asked “this person doesn’t know where we live…right…?”

And when I opened up my group text with my ladies I refer to as my Prayer Sista’s….they echoed what Hubby said. 😬

I was triggered by this situation.

😡I was being gaslit and threatened which made me big mad for all the different reasons you could think of.😤

I WANTED to react, but instead I paused to pray 🙏🏼 and before I could RESPOND, I was blocked. 🤪🤪

A few takeaways…

1) the devil DO be out here using people to hurt us and set us back.👹

2) we are capable of resisting the devil and his tactics. 🛑

3) God has given us many tools throughout His Word to combat the things of this world. ✝️

4) when HE is our foundation…things WILL be okay. 🪨

5) it’s okay to not feel okay sometimes. Just keep reminding yourself who and WHOSE you are. 🌞

If you wanna be cool and eat bugles off your fingers while resisting the devil…well.

I’ve got the perfect group for you! 🤪💜 My free group is here. Fill this out real quick and I’ll get back with ya soon about my membership group! Would love to share virtual bugles while we learn all the tools to keep us from being swallowed up by this crazy world!

Chasing the American Dream

“We have become perhaps the most emotionally exhausted, psychologically overworked, spiritually malnourished people in history.” -A.J. Swoboda

I agree. I see it every single day with 99% of the women I speak with.

God instructs us to “be still and know that HE is God.”

Yet all we do is hustle and bustle for the American Dream.

What about the “God Dream” for your life?

Does your life line up with what God has called you to do?

Perhaps that is the main reason you feel so much busyness and exhaustion; like you are lacking peace.

Are YOU living the God dream life or hustling for the American dream? Are you content with not? If you’re not, fill this out and i’ll be in touch with ya ASAP.

Weedy, Rooted, Thoughts

Look at the roots coming off of the root. 🤣😵‍💫

These evil FRUITLESS raspberry plants took over a flowerbed in my backyard. 😡

For 3 years we kept waiting for berries…none ever came. 😭😭😭

This has been a 6 month process to pull all these stupid things up because they are SO mean and pokey. And when ya get poked real good (through the gardening gloves, FYI) that thorn causes your finger to hurt for days! 😩😣😥

🧠 As I fought with these evil thorns, I thought of Jesus cursing the fig tree! I also realized our minds are a lot like my flowerbed-taken over by weeds.

You let one “weed” in, and those suckers will multiply faster than you can imagine. The roots will have roots, will have roots, AND will have roots.

What weedy thoughts are you allowing in your mind? Be careful to not let them take over.

Taking thoughts captive was a command from the Lord. Not just so that we have another rule, but to keep us safe. If you need help with this, get in touch with me! This is my passion. My specialty! 🙌🏼

Finding Joy in Parenting: Overcoming Common Struggles

Can we do both? Is it possible to actually enjoy parenting?

Parenting is tough. If we all agree on that, I challenge you to answer some of these questions:
1. Do you find yourself yelling at your spouse and kids?
2. Do you worry about traumatizing your kids?
3. Do you want to stop the generational trauma you were raised in from continually being passed on?
4. Do you constantly second (and third) guess yourself when making parenting/disciplining decisions?

If you answered “yes” to any of those, then you are in the right place! Nobody with a decent heart wants to cause harm to their kids. The truth is, nobody is perfect (thank you Lord for Your mercy and grace!) despite how much we try.
When we mess up, we fess up. Apologies go a long, long ways. Admitting you’ve done wrong and showing your kids you are truly sorry and asking them for forgiveness not only makes YOU feel better, it teaches your kids a valuable lesson or two. None of us are perfect, it’s okay to mess up, and it is freeing to ask for forgiveness.

If you are really wrestling with any and/or all of the questions mentioned above, I would LOVE to have a complimentary 60 minute session with you. Why? Because you CAN find joy in parenting those kiddos of yours. The generational junk stops with you, friend.

Bitter…Sweet?

Have you ever read the book of Ruth? If not, go check it out in the Old Testament. There are so many lessons learned in this book and it’s one of my favorite stories. Today’s verse of the day was Ruth 1:16  “But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. ”

As soon as I read that verse, I saw something “new” that I haven’t thought of before. Not only is Ruth an amazing role model for us, Ruth was a huge support person for Naomi. Naomi and Ruth had been through so much. Naomi was OVER IT; she even told everyone to call her Mara (bitter) instead of Naomi (sweet). I’d say she was DONE, wouldn’t you?!

Have you been to driven to that point? How many times have you been in a similar mental state; where anything and everything that could go wrong HAS?! Naomi had lost everything: her home, her husband and her children. Any woman’s worst nightmare was poor Naomi’s reality. Yet, Ruth’s love and support never wavered. She never gave up on Bitter Naomi.

I know in my life, I’ve chosen to be Bitter rather than Sweet. I can pinpoint the years I was so focused on the bad that I couldn’t see anything good.

The enemy loves to steal, kill and destroy. One of his favorite tools to use is lies. He lies to us all the time. During my lowest points, I listened mostly to his lies. I needed a Ruth to throw me a life ring and reel me back in. I ask you this…who have been the Ruth’s in your life at those hard moments? Tag your “Ruth” below and share this post with her. Tell her how much of an amazing support person she has been for you.

We weren’t meant to do this life without support! We need others to stand firm on solid ground so they can reel us back in when we are drowning in the enemy’s schemes. We need someone to speak life and truth over us. If you are without a Ruth and going through a difficult season where you NEED a Ruth, reach out to me here or email me at starkeycoaching@gmail.com . 🫶🏻

No Weapon Formed Against Us

Every time I hear the scripture “No weapon formed against us shall prosper”, I think of We the Kingdom’s “Don’t Tread on Me.”
That song is such a battle cry. When I’m struggling and feel the enemy trying to really weasel his way into every aspect of my life, my favorite thing is to crank up this song and sing/scream it at the top of my lungs. Guaranteed to feel better each time!
I’d like to break down this verse with y’all and hopefully offer more insight of what it actually means and how we can apply it to our lives.

Isaiah 54:17a “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you… “

There WILL be weapons. When you became a daughter of the King, you were promised His blessings. It also means you inherit His enemies as well.

Ephesians 6:12 tells us who is behind the weapons: the rulers, authorities and the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. It actually says that our struggle isn’t against flesh and blood BUT against that long list of evilness I just listed.

The enemy will do everything in his power to knock you off the straight and narrow. The devil ain’t after the non-believers, y’all. He is after YOU. Don’t let that scare you. It’s a good thing, because it means you’re ON the right track! James 1:2-3, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” The enemy is scared of YOU. I know, I can hear you laugh from here. He is afraid of all the goodness you are going to do for the Lord’s kingdom, and the devil is a sore loser.

Forged…some versions say “formed”, but NIV says “forged”. Forged is defined as something that is created, made, shaped. The devil doesn’t attack everyone in the same way. He makes the perfect weapon to try and “neutralize” you against the kingdom of God.

Now, let’s define Prevail…

So yes, while there will be weapons, none of them will be victorious against you.
What a sigh of relief, right?

you will refute every tongue that accuses you… “

Now, on to the second snippet of the scripture… refuting. To refute simply means to disprove (or to prove that someone is wrong).

People can talk ALLLL the want about you; but the truth will ALWAYS be brought to light. (Luke 8:17) It’s just all in God’s timing and sometimes that can frustrate us mere humans so much!

I hope this breakdown helps you to understand this verse better. Soon we will talk about ways to stand firm against that sneaky snake who tries to knock us off course.
