Small Changes make Big Impacts

Daily writing prompt
What’s one small improvement you can make in your life?

Walking. Walking a few minutes after each meal helps to create healthy habits, lowers blood sugar and makes you more mindful of the world around you.

I started feeling really yucky and my face would get real flushed and feel like I had the worst sunburn ever. I couldn’t figure out what was causing it until a few weeks in, my hubs had the bright idea for me to check my blood glucose. It was sky high. Probably should have gone to the hospital, according to my friend who’s a nurse.

One great way to bring blood sugar down naturally is to get up off your rear end and get some steps in. I started walking after meals…anywhere from 5-30 minutes, just depending on what is happening during the day. Y’all, in a 20 minute walk, my blood glucose would drop nearly 100 mg/dL! It would go from scary high to just regular high LOL!

Also, I don’t “waste” my walk time. Either my kids come along and we get some distraction-free discussion time in, or I’m alone and I pray. I do my best praying when I’m walking; I think it all boils down to being free from distractions!!

Intentionality is important. Walking has been a small thing that’s made a big impact on my entire being: mind, body, and Spirit!

2020 Was a Weird Time

Daily writing prompt
Describe a decision you made in the past that helped you learn or grow.

Growing up in the deep south and hearing all about the “rapture” and reading all the “Left Behind” series when I was young, when the world shut down in March of 2020, I freaked out.
I know, I know.
ALL the media (including social media) was screaming about ALL the things. Everywhere you turned you were figuratively slapped in the face with negativity and horror.

The vaccine that the government was giving out for free? Well, that had to be the mark of the beast, right? Surely it was. That’s what everyone was saying, but I hadn’t touched my Bible in over a decade.

I decided it was probably time to find my Bible, dust it off, and crack it open. <– This was the decision that was going to change the trajectory of my life and my family’s life.

What decision did YOU make that changed YOUR life?

The Bible

I have and will continue to read the Bible over and over again. It’s 67 different books all in one! There are so many life lessons and it inspires me so much. The Bible is the Living WORD! It’s sooo cool, because you can read the same verse over and over again and it will always be applicable, but sometimes in different ways!
God is so cool! His Word is so cool!

Do you read the Bible? Do you struggle to read the Bible?

Morning Rituals: Embracing Nature and Peace

Now that spring is upon us, I love to take my coffee outside and sit in the sunshine. This is an easy and free way to help lower cortisol. I sit in my lawn chair with my barefeet on the grass, soaking up that morning sun. Grounding and early morning sun provide great health benefits. I use this time to thank the Lord for His creation. Listening to the birds and squirrels while watching the trees dance in the breeze is so calming. Being in nature always brings me back to Jesus. I shared this pic the other day, but I actually took it in that quiet, coffee morning time! Stillness. Peacefulness. Amazing. Pure.
